This work centres on practical care, presence, and dignity. It exists for people navigating vulnerability, isolation, or hardship — and for communities wanting to respond with compassion and responsibility. Rather than programs for their own sake, this work prioritises human connection, shared meals, and prompt material support.
What This Work Includes
Material Relief
Support with essentials like food, shoes, and clothing, offered thoughtfully and relationally (If you need support, see current material support options)
Hot Community Dinners
Shared meals that create safety, belonging, and conversation — not services to pass through, but spaces to be part of (See upcoming meals and locations ).
Coffee & Conversation
Informal catch-ups that allow people to talk, think, and be heard without pressure or expectation.
Community Presence
Showing up consistently, listening carefully, and responding to what is actually happening — not what a system assumes is happening.
Why This Matters
There is not a lack of services. Harm is caused by a personal disconnect, silence, and a violence inherent in the system. This work responds early, locally, and relationally — before crises deepens. It is informed by lived experience, the social work code, and long-term involvement in community life in Hobart.
This care is not transactional. It is situational, respectful, and grounded in trust.
