Donut Angel began as a small act of kindness that grew into something bigger. At the end of each day, local bakeries would gift us their leftover donuts, and we would take them straight to night shelters around Hobart. Often we’d arrive to find people standing in the cold, waiting for the doors to open. We’d stop, talk, listen, share a donut, and help however we could in that moment.
One night, someone smiled and called us “the Donut Angel,” and the name stuck. It captured exactly what we hoped to be — a warm surprise in a hard moment, and a reminder that people care. This blog tells the story of those nights, the people we met, and the small acts that made a difference.
