Section 1: A Rich History
Food Not Bombs Hobart is part of a global movement that began in the 1980s. Founded on the principles of non-violence and social justice, Food Not Bombs aims to reduce food waste and provide nutritious meals to those in need. Our chapter in Hobart has been serving the community since 1996, and we’re proud to continue this legacy.

Section 2: The War on Poverty and Hunger
Despite Tasmania’s natural beauty, many individuals and families struggle with food insecurity. The war on poverty and hunger is far from over, and Food Not Bombs Hobart remains committed to providing essential support. We believe that everyone deserves access to healthy food, regardless of their background or circumstances.

Section 3: Leadership Through Change
As the temporary leader of Food Not Bombs Hobart, I’ve been privileged to guide our organisation through a period of transition – during the war. My role has been to ensure the continuation of our vital services while exploring new opportunities for growth and collaboration.

Section 4: Building Relationships and Expanding Our Reach
During my tenure, I’ve focused on building strong relationships with our regular attendees, volunteers, and community partners. By getting to know individuals and understanding their needs, we’ve been able to tailor our services and provide more effective support. Our core team has been instrumental in helping us maintain momentum, and we’re grateful for their dedication. We’ve also strengthened our ties with the Hobart City Council, participating in their initiatives and fostering a spirit of cooperation.

Section 5: Expanding Our Impact
In addition to our regular food services, we’ve launched several new initiatives to expand our reach and support. Our weekend bread basket program has been a huge success, providing essential staples to those in need. I’ve also introduced new projects, which can be found on my webpage. These initiatives have not only broadened our impact but also helped us build new relationships and partnerships within the community.

Section 6: A Decade of Dedication
As I reflect on the past decade, I’m filled with a sense of pride and accomplishment. While I’ve been fortunate to have some amazing support along the way, it’s been my labor of love that has kept Food Not Bombs Hobart thriving. As we look to the future, I’m excited to see how our organisation will continue to evolve and make a positive impact in the lives of those we serve.
